Link building case studies, published only with client approval

Our link building case studies document real client campaigns, published only with the client's written consent. Each one follows the same format and uses data from Ahrefs, Google Search Console and the client.

This hub lists case studies as clients approve them. Until then, this page explains the format, the data sources and the approval rule we follow. We never publish invented results.

Talk to our team

Each link building case study includes 4 parts: the starting point, the links built, the results at 3, 6 and 12 months, and AI visibility. Every case uses the same structure, so you can compare them side by side.

PartWhat it shows
Starting pointIndustry, target pages, Domain Rating, referring domains, organic traffic and target keyword positions before the campaign
Links builtEvery link with its DR, Ahrefs traffic, anchor text and target page, as in our sample report
Ranking and traffic changeKeyword positions, organic clicks and impressions at 3, 6 and 12 months after the first placement
AI visibilityWhether AI assistants name the brand for its target prompts, before and after the campaign

The links built section uses the same columns as our sample link report. AI visibility covers work such as brand mentions for AI search.

Where does the case study data come from?

Case study data comes from 3 sources: Ahrefs, Google Search Console and figures the client approves. Each figure names its source and its date range.

  • Ahrefs: Domain Rating, referring domains, organic traffic estimates and keyword positions.
  • Google Search Console: clicks, impressions and average position for the target pages.
  • Client approved data: leads, sales or other business figures, published only with sign off.

We also list other changes made during the campaign, such as new content, a redesign or a site migration. Rankings respond to more than links, and readers deserve the full picture. Every case follows our editorial policy on named sources.

When do we publish a client's case study?

We publish a case study only with the client's written consent, and we anonymize it by industry when the client asks. An anonymized case names the industry, such as a SaaS company or an online store, instead of the brand.

  • Consent: the client approves in writing before any draft is shared.
  • Review: the client checks the final draft, including every figure.
  • Agencies: a case about an agency's end client needs the agency's approval, because we never contact agency clients.

No case study on this site uses fabricated rankings, traffic or testimonials.

Case study questions

Why does this hub show the format before the case studies?

This hub shows the format first because we publish only real campaigns that clients approve in writing. Every case study appears here after its client signs off. Setting the format in advance means every case uses the same data points, sources and checkpoints. It also makes cases easy to compare once they are published.

Can my business be featured without its name?

Yes. We anonymize any case study by industry when the client asks, for example as a SaaS company or an online store. The brand name, domain and identifying details are removed. The links built, the checkpoints and the data sources stay the same. The client still approves the final draft before it is published.

Do case study results predict what my campaign achieves?

No. A case study shows what happened for one site, in one niche, during one period. Results depend on competition, the site's starting authority, its content and the links built. Each case lists its starting point and any other site changes. Read it as a worked example, not a forecast.
